UNDERBALANCED DRILLING

An Exceptional Drilling Head for Top Drive & Power Swivel Drilling

Our Drilling Head provides a safe and economical means of stripping long strings of tubing and drill pipe in and out of the wellbore under pressure.

The Drilling Head has a sturdy rubber packing element reinforced with a series of steel segments that prevent upward extrusions and rubber flow, even when sealing off very high pressures. Steel segments are spaced exactly to allow the rubber packing element to "breathe" in and out - conforming to different diameters and maintaining a safe, efficient seal while stripping tubing connections and/or drill pipe tool joints. The controlled breathing action provides a long-life packing element and makes the Drilling Head economical to operate and maintain.

Our Drilling Head is entirely automatic in its operation. The flexible lower sealing slip is always in contact with the tubing to provide an initial low-pressure seal. When the well pressure increases, the thick intermediate section of the stripper rubber is squeezed into contact with the tubing to form the main high-pressure seal over a large area.
